About "Floppy Dee"

Hi Girls and Boys, Men and Women! This is Floppy Dee - producer, songwriter, singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer and webdesigner from Emden - Germany (Lower Saxony) born October, 17th 1988 trying to write another biography to let you know what happened since March, 6th 2007 and a few months before when the idea was born to start a solo project. After my first band broke up in 2006 and at the age of seventeen I just wanted to move on with music, especially Punk Rock. Blink 182, Sum 41 you know what I mean?! Of course you know! How many people tell me "... this reminds me of Blink 182!". I guess everyone has got their influences.

2006 - 2007

The first tries were terrible, especially with my vocals because I never really sung before. But instead of giving up I moved on practicing hard to get back lost time. Now I'm glad I did it even if it wasn't completely painless. Just listen to "Best Friends" and compare it with "Drowning In Jealousy" - you can hear the difference. An other handicap were my braces which I had for about four years from 2006 to 2010. Anyways, the first instrumental successes came already in Summer 2006. You wanna listen? Just do this right here

The song was called "Let Me Go" :

recorded in August / September 2006.

Questions / Answers

  1. "how did you find the name "Floppy Dee"?"
by accident when I was talking with a friend over an instand messenger. The name was actually "Floppy D". I just wrote "call me Floppy D now." after I sent her a rap demo song.
  2. "how can you play every instrument on a record without a band?"
step by step! Mostly I'm recording a guitar track first. Then I put some drums, vocals and bass on it 'til the song is done.

2007 - 2008

This is probably the most important interval. Long before I started my side-project "Darkside X" in Fall 2007, I worked hard on the sound of my records. You wanna know what it sounded like? Simply one word : crap! With DSX I had another boom. It was different to every music I did before and much "darker". Just listen

The song was called "Dark Town" :

recorded in October 2007.

Questions / Answers

  1. "what happened to "Darkside X"?"
later I changed over to Floppy Dee again with first official song called "Best Friends" which were actually wrote for DSX. The project Darkside X was canceled forever.

2008-2009

Code-word "Climate Change". Recorded in May it seems to be a great thing. After release on June, 6th 2008 a lot of you people liked these songs. That was pretty awesome to me. Suddenly I found my songs in different countries like France, Poland and Italy. Even in american and britain podcasts ... wtf?!. Special thanks to all supporters at this time!

After this I took a little break to gain new inspirations. Planned was a full length record in 2009 but I just needed time to create another sound and enhance my voice. This is why I couldn't observe deadlines with a release. So I decided to take "Use Your Mind" for a makeshift.

Questions / Answers

  1. "why "Climate Change"?"
This is quite another result of DSX. There was a song called Climate Change (not the actual song!).
  2. "how many songs did you write in 2008 except Use Your Mind and Leaving?"
I don't really know ... maybe up to 30 demos?! Here you can find a discography of never released LP's.

2009 - 2010

In Summer 2009 a lot of inspirations came over me to finish the debut LP "The Small Disappears, The Great Approaches" ... finally!
